There is a dedicated lane for right turns off eastbound Jericho Turnpike onto southbound Glen Cove Road. It has its own traffic signal, but it has two distinctly separate light phases, which I cannot comprehend. The lane is unidirectional – right turns only. You can’t go straight; you can’t make a left turn. All traffic through this “ramp” goes right. Furthermore, there are two, “No Turn On Red,” signs that contradict the signal, since a red light displays alongside a green, right-turn arrow.
Having been struck by cars in Nassau County twice last winter, first on November 16th as a Scooter-American and then on December 13th as a pedestrian, I am sensitive to these things. Still waiting on my fat checks from insurance.
Remember in Super Mario World, how some things aren’t as they seem, and a certain pattern or color could indicate a secret passageway? I’m inclined to think that’s what’s going on here. Maybe when the yes-no red light/green arrow shows, you can pass through into another dimension.
I know for a fact there’s a Spooky Ghost House right around the corner; it shares space in a mixed-use building with the Amzallag Deli-Morgue.
